  WEATHER ON TITAN

Titan is has extremely cold temperatures that stay around -180° C, no matter if it is night or day.  Part of this has to do with the fact that it is nearly 10 times farther away from the Sun than the Earth, and the atmospheric pressure on Titan is 1.5 times greater than Earth's.

A DAY ON TITAN

A day on Titan is equivalent to about 16 Earth days. This is also the amount of time it takes Titan to orbit Saturn.  Titan has 192 hours of sunlight followed by 192 hours of darkness.  This is because Titan turns very slowly compared to the Earth.  The level of sunlight at the top of Titan's atmosphere is about 1/90 of Earth's and even though this sounds pretty dark it's still fairly bright on the scale of illumination.

WATER ON TITAN

There is evidence of water on Titan, however none in the liquid form.  It is most likely frozen, perhaps at the bottom of a lake or an ocean of liquid hydrocarbons like ethane and methane.

OXYGEN ON TITAN

Small amounts of both oxygen and carbon dioxide have been found in Titan's atmosphere.  However, it is thought that it would be too difficult to separate out efficient quantities of oxygen for breathable air and they still could not be used as a fuel.

LIFE ON TITAN

Titan has significant amounts of nitrogen and carbon compounds as well as organic compounds such as methane in its atmosphere which all suggest the possibility of the existence of life.  Does it exist now?  Did Titan one day support life that has now been extinct?  Will it be able to support life in the future?  With more research and evidence perhaps we can find out for sure.
