Although Titan is one of the better possibilities for holding life, the idea is still far-fetched.  For life to exist, there needs to be three essential ingredients: liquid water, organic compounds and energy.  For Titan to possess these things, we would need to do something called terraforming.  Terraforming is basically taking land that is naturally unsuitable for life and changing it so it may become habitable.  One radical idea on how to go about terraforming Titan would be to project asteroid-like objects at it, in hopes that they crash into Titan.  Upon impact, these asteroids would help melt Titan’s frozen water stores creating liquid water and oxygen.  These asteroid impacts would also increase Titan’s energy level; another one of the three things life needs to exist.  Unfortunately terraforming, if possible, will take thousands of years (maybe more).  Hopefully the Cassini mission to Saturn in the year 2004 will help solve some mysteries.  Meanwhile, just the idea of creating an Earth-like planet from a freezing moon with a surface like Earth’s before life began, is exciting.
