Assignment Guidelines

File Naming Convention: Please use your last name as your file name. If you want to add the assignment name, that is fine; however, you must have your last name in the file name.

e.g., saneda.doc or saneda_terminology.doc

This will enable me to quickly grade instead of having to look up each student's SID number.

General Note: Please follow the assignment instructions carefully.* Assignments will not be accepted through the digital dropbox, which has been disabled, or through email unless specified. For the majority of assignments, use the "View/Complete Assignment" link at the bottom of the instructions. You must type something in the comment box and click SUBMIT to enable me to access your work. If your file uploaded, you will see an exclamation point in My Grades. If not, there will be a dash or a lock. If it is a dash you will need to try to upload the file again. If it is lock, you will need to go back in and click the submit button. Once I have finished grading, I will upload a file with comments and/or write something in the comment box. To access this information, simply click on your score.

* Note: Average work meets the minimum requirements spelled out in the assignment instructions. Students who push themselves beyond the minimum requirements earn higher scores

Late Assignment Policy: With the exception of the discussion board facilitation assignment, extra credit, and the final essay, students may turn in late assignments; however, for each 48 hour period the assignment is late, the maximum grade you can achieve drops by 10%. No assignments will be accepted more than 6 days after the due date unless there are extreme circumstances, such as illness of yourself or family member, or a death in the family. You must notify me as close to the original due date as possible. Work duties and vacation are not acceptable reasons for late assignments.

Spelling and Grammar: These spelling and grammar guidelines apply to all assignments.

For every 5 spelling and grammar mistakes you make, you will lose 1 point except for the following items which cost 1 point for EACH time you make the mistake: they're/there/their, your/you're, its/it's. I cannot recommend highly enough that you type all your work in a word processing program and run both a spell and grammar check, even for work you will posting on the discussion board. This will also enable you to keep a copy of your work on your own computer. You are responsible for keeping a copy of all your work.

Grading:I will try to grade all assignments within one week of the due date; however, because I grade specifically to the outcomes, it may take me longer than one week.
