Water

Mackenzie Shill

Almost every function in our bodies depends on water. Water helps transport hormones, chemical messengers, and nutrients throughout the vital organs. It is necessary for us to digest and absorb vitamins and nutrients. It flushes impurities and bacteria from the organs and helps reduce stress on the muscles.

Water is one of the best known solvents. It has a simple structure of one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms. Water is polar, meaning there is an uneven distribution of electrons, it has a partial negative charge on the oxygen atom and a partial positive charge on the hydrogen atoms.

The reason water is such a good solvent is due to its polarity. It allows it to break down many different compounds, and is one of the reasons it is necessary for life. Because it is such good solvent water can break down nutrients in the body and transport them around to the different organs etc…
