Podcatchers

Podcatchers are programs that run on your computer enabling you to download audio files and upload them into your mp3 device (the iPod is a popular mp3 device promoted by Apple's great marketing scheme). For those of you who do not have mp3 devices, do not despair, you can download podcatching software or use an online site such as Feedburner.com.  The advantage of the mp3 devices is portability.

Below are some sites that may be helpful.  For those of you who have iPods or mp3 players and are familiar with podcasts and subscriptions to RSS feeds, you will be happy to know you can listen to my relatively short (and informative, I hope!) lectures at your convenience.  Podcasts combined and/or coordinated with PowerPoint presentations should approximate a classroom lecture and round out the information absorption process.  The new iPods allow one to sync videos.

Feedburner: Feedburner hosts the online feed site for podcasts from this class.
Bloglines: Bloglines is an online podcatching/feed service which is free to those who register.
iTunes: Download iTunes 6, free for Mac and Windows.
iPodder: This is ipodder.org/directory/4/ipodderSoftware, a podcast directory that makes available various podcatching software for downloads.
Blogger.com: This is a good place to start your weblog.
