Bedford St. Martin's Online Study Guide

Go to this online guide for The American Promise. It is a valuable online learning tool that will help reinforce topics studied in this class.

The Guide to Grammar and Writing is sponsored by the Capital Community College Foundation, a nonprofit 501 c-3 organization. I have received permission to link to their site. Anyone who needs help or a refresher lesson with any aspect of writing from subject-verb agreements to how to start a paper should visit this site! I highly recommend it as one of the most valuable resources for students and instructors alike.

Guidelines to Writing a Philosophy Paper is written by Dr. Jim Pryor of NYU. Although his focus is on the philosophy paper, his principle points are applicable to history papers and answering the questions on my examinations. Please visit this site.

Podcatchers

Podcatchers are programs that run on your computer enabling you to download audio files and upload them into your mp3 device (the iPod is a popular mp3 device promoted by Apple's great marketing scheme). For those of you who do not have mp3 devices, do not despair, you can download podcatching software or use an online site such as Feedburner.com.  The advantage of the mp3 devices is portability.

Below are some sites that may be helpful.  For those of you who have iPods or mp3 players and are familiar with podcasts and subscriptions to RSS feeds, you will be happy to know you can listen to my relatively short (and informative, I hope!) lectures at your convenience.  Podcasts combined and/or coordinated with PowerPoint presentations should approximate a classroom lecture and round out the information absorption process.  The new iPods allow one to sync videos.

Feedburner: Feedburner hosts the online feed site for podcasts from this class.
Bloglines: Bloglines is an online podcatching/feed service which is free to those who register.
iTunes: Download iTunes 6, free for Mac and Windows.
iPodder: This is ipodder.org/directory/4/ipodderSoftware, a podcast directory that makes available various podcatching software for downloads.
Blogger.com: This is a good place to start your weblog.
