Instructor Bio

For over 15 years, I have dedicated myself to the study of aesthetics, design, and communication. I have developed graphics, animation and new media content for a variety of industries including children's edutainment, corporate and nonprofit sectors and private customers. From the time Cascadia Community College opened its doors at the current Bothell facility in the Fall of 2000, I have taught courses related to Web technologies, visual design, multimedia and digital art.
I began as an illustrator of children's books and a graphic designer for corporate and non-profit sectors. As the Internet grew in popularity, I became interested in Web design and then in multimedia including streaming technologies. At this time, I also found an interest in expressing my creative background in the area of motion and time based aesthetics, particularly animation. I tend to take an interdisciplinary approach to education, seeking to contribute to the development of students as effective individuals who are not only widely employable, yet have the personal qualities to succeed and contribute in larger ways. I have also maintained a long standing interest in ethnic issues and under-represented social groups and seek when possible to incorporate these themes into my work and instruction.
Currently my interests include game art and design, experimental media, interactive narrative strategies, digital illustration, animation and motion graphics
